Chevrolet has announced that the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD will debut in February 2019 as the “most capable and most advanced Silverado HD ever.” This is the third Silverado model that Chevrolet has made all-new for specific customer needs in 18 months. And everything about the new Silverado HD’s design is exclusive to it besides its roof which is shared with the Silverado 1500.

“We built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for [heavy-duty customers] that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep.” – Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer, Silverado HD

The all-new Silverado HD has been designed with a bold body that accentuates its enhanced heavy-duty functionality and capability. The lead exterior designer for the truck compares its image to a piece of heavy machinery that features modern details. Even the interior has been upgraded to have an extra 3-inches of legroom to the crew cab compared to previous generations, as well as a taller seating position.

Then, to power this intense truck, the Silverado HD is equipped with either an all-new gas engine with direct injection or a Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 engine. The gas-powered engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission, while the diesel-powered engine features an all-new Allison 10-speed transmission. Plus, the diesel engine is able to deliver up to 910 pound-feet of torque!

Also, because Chevrolet listens to their customer base, the 2020 Silverado HD will be outfitted with all-new customer-focused trailering technology that makes towing more convenient than before. One of those features is the useful Bedstep that other Chevy trucks have available. And overall, there have been significant increases in the towing and payload capabilities of the heavy-duty truck. Not to mention all of the other technologies that will be available and have been designed specifically to address customers’ needs.

The 2020 Chevy Silverado HD will go on sale in mid-2019.
